Division III: Science and Mathematics

Jim Shaffer, Assistant Professor of Biology

Jim Shaffer received a bachelor’s degree in ecology and biodiversity from The University of the South, and master’s and doctorate degrees in biology from the University of Kentucky. His research focuses on understanding how plant communities develop and how disturbances (e.g. fire, herbivory, invasive species) interact with species traits and plant success to better inform restoration practices in human impacted systems.

Sam Scheibe, Visiting Professor of Music

Sam Scheibe earned his bachelor’s degree in music from Westminster Choir College, a master’s degree in composition from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and a master’s in choral conducting from the University of Miami. A composer, conductor, and vocalist, Scheibe specializes in traditional and contemporary choral music. His original music has been performed and commissioned by ensembles across the United States and the United Kingdom. Director of the Penn Glee Club at the University of Pennsylvania, Scheibe will serve as interim director of choirs at ¹û¶³´«Ã½.
